Kerman is located in the southeastern part of Iran on the margin of Lut Desert, the only UNESCO natural site of Iran. The city is surrounded by mountains and desert so it offers many natural attractions such as thermal and mineral springs, lakes and special desert features. Kerman Top Attractions

This complex belongs to the Safavid era. It covers an area of 11000 square meters. Ganjali khan complex is composed of different historical buildings such as a school, a square, a caravanserai, a public bath, a water reservoir, a mosque, a tea house and a bazaar. In recent years the bath has become an anthropology museum with unique work of Persian architecture.

It is known locally as Gonbad-e Jabaliyeh. Although the architectural elements of the dome have been inspired from the Sassanide period it is not clear when it was built. The amazing thing is that it is made of stone rather than the usual brick. Now it houses a gravestone museum.

This UNESCO heritage site is the largest clay town in the world. Arg-e Bam is located in the city of Bam which is 200 km away from Kerman. It belongs to the Sassanid period and it has been an important city for being at the crossroads of important trade routes and production of silk and cotton. The citadel is still worth visiting after the great Bam earthquake in 2003.

Located in Lut desert, Shahdad offers fantastic features and adventurous desert activities . Also throughout Shahdad monuments related to the fourth millennium BC to the Islamic and contemporary periods such as cemeteries, forts and caravanserais can be observed. But the most unique asset of Shahdad desert is Yardangs. Camps in Shahdad are ready to host all travelers.

Kolompeh

This traditional pastry is a kind of cookie. It is mainly different because of the ingredients they put inside it. A mixture of date and ground walnut scented with cardamom, rosewater and/or cinnamon forms the inner layer of the cookie.

Ghaout

Ghavoot

Around 15 to 40 plant seeds are grinded and mixed with sugar to make a traditional sweet powder called Ghavoot. It is so energetic and anti-oxidant. Coffee, Black pepper, Cinnamon, clove gillyflower, purslane، pistachio and etc are some of its components .

Pateh Doozi (Needlework)

A kind of Iranian needleworking in Kerman that is the oldest type of traditional needleworking in Iran. In Pateh Doozi, needleworks are made on thick wool fabrics (Ariz), with coloured wool threads (Ris) made of various thicknesses.

Kerman Carpet

The combination of color and design, is the reason of kerman carpet reputation. It is one of the most magnificent, beautiful, and stylish carpets in the world in terms of design and color. That is, rarely two carpets are found to be similar as for their color or design.

Bozghormeh Stock

Abgoosht-e (stock) Bosghormeh or Kermani is one of the local foods in Kerman which is very popular. This delicious local food is made of split peas, garlic, whey (kashk), fried garlic, saffron, onion, spices, and kid chop. It seems that the food’s name is taken from the kid meat used in it.

Aloocheh (prune) Stew

The stew is another local food of Kerman and the sour taste of prunes in the food is a favourite attraction for those having an interest in sour foods. Ingredients required to cook this delicious food are prune, meat, dried parsley and coriander, lemon juice, pinto bean, onion, tomato sauce, and spices.

Majoor Kadoo

No one can imagine how delicious is the mixture of cheese and zucchini. Firstly, Eggs, grated zucchinis, wheat flour, dill, garlic, salt and pepper are mixed, then shredded white cheeses are added and finally are cooked in the oven or fried in hot oil.

Zireh Polo

Kerman is famous for its Persian cumin; so, zire polo is very popular there. In its simple recipe, Iranian black cumin is added to rice and served with lamb or chicken. Its taste may be disliked by many people; however, it is worth tasting.
