Qeshm, the Garden of Eden

Where is Qeshm:

The vast island of Qeshm with 1491 square meters, 120 km length and approximately 11 kmwidth is the biggest island of Iran and Persian Gulf that is located in the strategic location of Hormozstrait.

It has 69 towns and villages that based on the census of 2011, the totally population is 117,774. The fishing, dhow construction and trade are of the main jobs of locals. Although some others, too, are engaged in administrative and industrial fields.

Qeshm city is in the easternmost point of the island and is the main residence of people .It is one of the main centers of industrial –commercial free zones of the region for Persian Gulf countries and currently Chinese products.

Dargahan, Larak, Shib Deraz, Hengam, Laft, Tabl and Haft Rangoo are of the main tourist towns and islands of Qeshm.

The area of Qeshm is around twice (2/5) ofBahrain, thesecondlarge island of The Persian Gulf.

In comparison to other islands of Persian Gulf, Qeshm has the most number of beaches and the interesting point is that the beaches are not just one kind .I.e. you can find both rocky andsandbeaches; a feature that you can rarely find all in one place.

Zeitoon rocky beach, Simin sand beach and Laft beach that is only made of mud and Harra forest beaches are those beaches that can show you this diversity very well.

Zeitoon,Siimin, Sooza, Shib deraz, Salakh, Doostko are the most beautiful beaches of Qeshm Island.

Rigoo rocky beach known as turtle beach is another beautiful beaches of Qeshm, where you can find young and old turtles that come to the beach for finding food and breathing.

Hengam amazing beach in 2 km south of the island is the homeland of smart and playful dolphins. These lovely marine mammals, has made Hengam beach as the most visited beaches by tourists.

Based on what is mentioned in the above, we can say Qeshm Island is the paradise of nature and natural attraction lovers and adventuroustravelers, although it has enough historical attractions to satisfy the taste of history seekers,too.

Climate:

Qeshm is included in the list of warm and humid lands. The level of humidity is very high and the pressure reaches less than 1000 Mbar in summer and due to hot weather.

The average temperature is 26 °C while 46 is the highest and 16 is the lowest temperature during the year.

The level of rainfall is very low (the average is around 183 mm) and climate is so warm especially from May till August, The hot season is first of June till first of September and the coolest time are December, January and February; so, the best time for travel is October till February, although March and April, too, are good but the weather is going to be warm.

Flora and Fauna of Qeshm Island :

The main and most important flora of the island is Harra marine forests. They are of a special kind of mangrove known as Avicennia marina that have occupied around 2000 square meters of the island. Kahoor, chet , kert and Ziziphus are other kinds of island's flora.

You can find two of world's eco systems in Qeshm island .i.e. coral islands and Harra forests. Also you can find four species of bat eating fruits, four species of Urchin, one Rabbit, fox and Jubair or Persian gazelle live in Qeshm Island.

Those who are interested in visiting birds, Qeshm can be a very good destination for them .Qeshm island is the home of around 173 kinds of birds that Green Heron (Havasil-e-sabz) and Sooty Falcon are the rare species.  In detail, 1.5 % of the world birds and 25% of Iran's native birds migrate to Harra forest every year.
